This is not overly applicable to Darkfall as the roleplaying ability lacks.
So you are a role-player? Fantastic! Finding a good home isn't a very easy task for those more interested in lore and immersion than hard core PvE grinding, mechanics, and PvP. The good news is this is a home for you and you will fit in perfectly here.
Exilium Role-Play F.A.Q
1. What is role-play?
Truly the term has many definitions. But our interpretation of role-play is when a person seeks to immerse themselves into the MMO world they are playing in and tries to see the world, their actions, and the actions of others through their character's eyes.
2. Is Role-Play supported/required in Exilium?
Role-Play is 'supported' in Exilium, but not required. We have a very rich lore in which we built this guild around. We did this to further enhance the game play of our loremasters and role-players. But you are by no means required to partake in that. If you're main goal is to kill kill kill and loot loot loot, that's great. Some folks may want to do some role-play on some days and on others go hardcore pvp/pve. Some folks may only want to role-play. Whatever your case may be, it's accepted here. We take a very strong stance on making sure our members are happy in whatever they are interested in.
3. What is the story behind Exilium?
We could fill up one hundred pages with our story line. But to keep it short and to the point, we'll use a paragraph. Exilium, as the name applies (it's latin for exile by the way), is a guild of misfits, outcasts, bandits, and exiles. Our members, if they choose to participate in the storyline, are people who have been kicked out of their kingdoms, their homesteads, or their families for whatever reasons. They wander the land looking for a home and stumble into us. We offer them protection, food, drink, and company. That's the small picture.
The bigger picture is Exilium's goal is to form a kingdom of free-men and free-women. We're sick and tired of feudalistic kingdoms and nobility. Instead our society is based upon freedom, everyone's right to voice their opinion, and the rights of all men and women to be equal. Thus we are a society of misfits, outcasts, and exiles who have banded together to overthrow the established feudalistic order and make the world a free place. You can also read our Dogma for a decent overall understanding of where we come from. Just remember, it's not literal. It's symbolism
4. So your Dogma says this guy on a boat is told to do things by the wind and the dead? Is that the guild leader?
No, that is you. Each of us come to a cross road in our life where we choose to stand up for what we believe in or be mowed over by those in power. Some of us will stand up for what we believe, gain power by doing so, then become as bad as those who sought to oppress us in the first place (that's the crew of his ship). Our Dogma is a parable, so to speak. It's nothing but symbolism.
5. What else does Exilium offer to enhance role-play and immersion?
Exilium is a game in and of itself. This guild is chalked full of mini-games. First we have the elections for Council Members and other special positions. These elections occur pretty often. Each election is a game and of itself. There are political battles going on inside the guild. Each member, regardless of who you are, has the ability to run for office. Council Members will do whatever it takes to keep their seats of power. Elections may be quite fun to participate in or quite fun to watch.
6. Elections sound fun and all, but my character is more of a brute force kind of guy. What can I do?
Not a politician or a business man? Understandable. We have several options available to you. The most obvious option is to join the Exilium military. Once in the military, you'll embark on other mini-games associated more with combat and killing.
7. I'm more into writing stories and such about my character. Can we do that?
Absolutely. We have an entire story section for that on our forums. We also have an art section. Our hope is as we grow larger, we'll get more people interested in those aspects of this community and they will fill those sections up with stories, art, and so on. We have, in the past, even done story contests and art contests with rewards.
8. It sounds good and all. But most guilds I've been a part of ended up full of jerks who just made fun of me when I tried to role-play.
That does suck. But we're for real here when it comes to treating all our members with respect regardless of their gaming choices. Our big RP/PvP guild in Age of Conan, Hand of Set has been around for 2 and a half years for that very reason. It's not only one of the most fearsome pvp/pve guilds on it's server, but it's also one of the more respected RP guilds. You can have RPers and PvP/Pvers existing together.
In Exilium, as we did in Hand of Set, anyone who insults or makes fun of a RPer is kicked out of the guild regardless of their position with little to no mercy..no exceptions.
